• 1845 - Per notes in 1855 NY census, had lived in Catherine, Schuyler Co., NY ~10 years.
• 1848 - Married Mary Jane Wood.
• 1850 Federal census - Age 27, living in Catharine, Schuyler Co., NY on the farm of William Vaughn with (Mary) Jane (21) and daughter Hellen (2).
• 1855 NY census - Living in Catharine, Schuyler Co., NY with Mary Jane and Hellen (7) and baby Robert D. (11 mos). Surmised from later records, Robert goes by middle name, Dwight.
• 1855 NY census - Surname listed as McKul in online records due to unfortunate transcription error (single e read as c, double-e read as u).
• 1860 Federal census - Living in Catherine with Mary Jane, Hellen (12), Dwight (5) and two apparent siblings (Dayton and John Mekeel)
• 1863 - Civil War draft registration lists family as living in Montour, NY.
• 1870 Federal census - Living in Catharine, Schuyler Co., NY with Mary Jane, Hellen (22, now a school teacher) and Robert (16, listed as Habard D, really?!?).
• 1875 NY census – Living in Catharine with Mary Jane and Dwight (22, a teamster). Looks like Mary Jane is now from Oneida County... hmm
• 1880 Federal census – Living in Middlebury, Tioga Co., PA with Mary Jane and Hellen (Ford, 32) and Grace (7)
• 1889 letter from Mary E Wood to pension authority placed Levi and Mary Jane in Havana, NY.
• 1890 Federal census – Levi (77) and Mary Jane (71) are living alone in Montour, Schuyler Co., NY
• From pension-related letters written by Mary Elizabeth (Ganoung) Wood - "Levi Mekeel and Mary J. Mekeel, who have testified for me, were well acquainted with our family. Mrs. Mekeel is my husband's sister. They now (1891) live in Havana."
