  • 1866-1870 In the years following her husband's death, Mary E (Ganoung) Wood parceled out her younger kids to family, friends and neighbors. Harry went to live with the Frost family. The Frosts moved to Missouri, taking Harry along. He was between 5 and 9 years of age.
  • 1870-09-01 Federal census has the Stillman(51) and "Mariah"(44) Frost in Monroe, Daviess, MO. Also in the house: William Impson(17), Ruth Williams(14) and Harry Wood(8).
  • 1876 Missouri census lists as William H Wood(10-18). Still living with Stillman and Mariah Frost in Monroe, Daviess, MO.
  • 1880-06-05 federal census for Monroe, MO census, Harry(19) is listed as adopted son of Stillman(61) and Mariah(54) Frost. Also living there as servants: John Michails(26) and Juriah Jackson(36).
  • 1882-1883 Per obituary, William H Wood was a founder of Sheridan, establishing the first butcher shop and ice business in town.
  • 1891 He ventures further west.
  • 1900 Federal census put him Custer Co,, Montana.
  • 1900 Marries. Seems to have had an interesting marriage to Rosmond Deegan. She may have been married to at least 2 other gentlemen at the same time.
  • 1905 Lives in Belle Fourche, SD.
  • 1915-06-23 For all the times it comes up in his mother's letters here, Will (who goes by Harry to everyone but his mother) is alive through the course of the letters. He dies in in Sheridan, WY,
